Community Leader
Councilman Tygard serves on the board of the Bellevue YMCA / J. L. Turner Lifelong Learning Center for Senior Citizens Inc., which in the last year has grown into the largest Senior Citizens Inc. branch in the state of Tennessee.
Charlie is an active member of the Bellevue Exchange Club, which promotes the prevention of child abuse and promotes recreational opportunities for the youth of Bellevue.
He is an active member and past-president of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, and in 2005 Charlie was honored with Bellevue’s Citizen of the Year Award for his leadership and his continued commitment to excellence in the area of improving the quality of life for the citizens of Bellevue.
In an effort to promote pro-active safety measures Charlie currently serves as the local Board of the Public Access of Defibrillators (PAD) organization, which provides and places automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in local schools and public buildings throughout Nashville.
Charlie is a 25-year member of the Middle Tennessee Basketball Officials Association and is a past-president of the Association. Charlie is also a member of the Nashville Sports Council, assisting in the successful AAU Girls National Championship Tournament annually held in Nashville.
